Paris Saint-Germain host Clermont Foot 63 this Saturday with Mauricio Pochettino’s South American contingent absent after playing FIFA World Cup qualifiers in the early (French) hours on Friday.

Lionel Messi, Neymar, Angel Di Maria, and Leandro Paredes were all in action while captain Marquinhos is only back in Paris due to confusion over whether his suspension stood after Brazil-Argentina was abandoned last weekend.

Consequently, PSG welcome the Ligue 1 newcomers to Parc des Princes and will likely field a heavily rotated lineup with the big guns expected back for next week’s UEFA Champions League clash away at Club Brugge.

With four wins from four, Pochettino and his players have made a smooth start to the season with Kylian Mbappe one of the early leading goal scorers with three strikes to his name. The Frenchman is in the squad here after picking up a knock with Les Bleus on recent international duty and Les Parisiens will be grateful to have him focused on the season ahead after months of Real Madrid rumors.

Eight points from a possible 12 with no defeats so far is an impressive start to life in Ligue 1 for Pascal Gastien and his unheralded squad and Mohamed Bayo as well as Elbasan Rashani have already scored three goals apiece. If Les Lanciers can continue their early season form, any relegation worries will quickly disappear around Stade Gabriel Montpied. However, without Bayo in Paris, rested after a chaotic international break in Guinea, their chances have taken a bit of a hit.

Despite the numerous absentees, PSG should win this one relatively comfortably. However, Clermont should not be underestimated and a rotated squad with potential debuts for Gianluigi Donnarumma and Nuno Mendes at some point will need time to gel. Pick: PSG 3-1 CF63.
