How the Tampa Bay Buccaneers arrived at Super Bowl LV

The Bucs will be the first team in NFL history to play the Super Bowl in their home stadium when they face the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV. After a great offseason that saw the additions of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, here’s how Tampa Bay advanced to the Super Bowl.

Tom Brady’s Bucs debut didn’t go as hoped. He threw two interceptions, including a pick-six to Janoris Jenkins in the third quarter. Drew Brees threw for 160 yards and two scores for New Orleans.

The Bucs rebounded from a Week 1 loss to down the Panthers. Leonard Fournette rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

The Bucs defense dominated with Broncos starter Drew Lock absent, holding Denver to only 226 yards in a 28-10 win. Tom Brady threw for 297 yards and three touchdowns.

Tampa Bay got all they could handle from the Chargers but was able to come back in the fourth quarter to win a high-scoring game. Tom Brady threw for 369 yards and five touchdowns to five different receivers.

The Bears gave Tampa Bay their second loss of the season, as Nick Foles beat Tom Brady again after also beating him when the Eagles defeated the Patriots in Super Bowl LII. Foles threw for 243 yards and one touchdown, while Brady had 253 yards and one score.

Tampa Bay had a successful rebound after struggling in Week 5, showing the Packers in a blowout win. The Bucs defense was able to pick off Aaron Rodgers twice, while Tom Brady threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns.

Tampa Bay visited Las Vegas and easily came out with the win, as Tom Brady threw for 369 yards and four touchdowns. The Bucs piled on late in the game, scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter.

The Bucs escaped with a two-point win over the Giants in Week after coming back from a 17-15 fourth-quarter deficit, Tampa Bay was able to hold off New York by stopping a two-point conversion attempt with 28 seconds left that would have tied the game. Tom Brady finished with 279 yards passing and two touchdowns.

The Bucs were hoping to even the score after losing to the Saints in Week 1, but the Week 9 contest didn’t go how they planned. Tom Brady threw three interceptions, and Drew Brees starred with 222 yards passing and four scores.

Tom Brady and company got back on their feet in Week 10 against the Panthers in a blowout win. The game was tied 17-17 at halftime before the Bucs went into high gear. Brady threw for 341 yards and three touchdowns, while Ronald Jones had 192 yards rushing and one score.

The Bucs lost at home against the Rams in a game that went back and forth. Ultimately, the Rams passing game was too much for the Buccaneers, as Jared Goff threw for 376 yards and three touchdowns. Tom Brady threw two touchdowns and two picks.

The Chiefs gave Tampa Bay their second consecutive home loss, as the Bucs couldn’t stop Patrick Mahomes or Tyreek Hill. Hill had over 200 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter and finished the game with three scores. Tom Brady did throw for 345 yards and three touchdowns, as Tampa Bay came back late in the game.

Tampa Bay got back on track after their bye week, with the help of 17 points in the second quarter. Tom Brady threw for 196 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bucs went on the road to beat the division-rival Falcons. Despite allowing Matt Ryan to throw for 356 yards and three touchdowns, Tampa Bay outlasted Atlanta with a game-winning 46-yard touchdown from Tom Brady to Antonio Brown in the fourth quarter. Brady threw for 390 yards and two touchdowns.

Tampa Bay embarrassed the Lions in Week 16, who were without much of their coaching staff due to COVID-19. The Lions had only 186 yards of offense, while Tom Brady threw for 348 yards and four touchdowns. Mike Evans also had a huge game with 10 catches for 181 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bucs capped off their regular season with their second win over the Falcons in three weeks. Tom Brady continued to get in rhythm, throwing for 399 yards and four touchdowns, two going to Antonio Brown.

Washington got a great performance from backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Bucs. Tom Brady threw for 381 yards and two scores, while Leonard Fournette had 19 carries for 93 yards and one score.

After the Bucs lost both regular-season matchups against the Saints, they were able to get over the hump in the playoffs. Tampa Bay’s defense suffocated the Saints’ offense, holding them to only 294 yards, while Tom Brady threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns.

Tom Brady and the Bucs were able to overcome three interceptions to advance to the Super Bowl, giving Brady his 10th career Super Bowl appearance. The future Hall of Fame quarterback threw for 280 yards and three touchdowns, while Tampa Bay’s defense was also able to force two critical turnovers.
