Italian Serie A picks for Juventus vs. Sassuolo

Before you tune in to Monday’s match, you need to see the Italian Serie A picks from soccer insider Brandt Sutton. Sutton, a former collegiate soccer player, has been SportsLine’s top soccer editor for more than five years. He has followed soccer closely for much longer and factors in managerial tactics, projected lineups and past performances to make the most-informed decisions possible, keeping his finger on the pulse of the game all over the globe. Sutton also has been on a roll with his Serie A best bets since the start of 2022, going 36-20 in his last 56 picks, returning more than $1,300 for $100 bettors.

For Juventus vs. Sassuolo, Sutton is picking the match to finish under the 3.5-goal total for a -160 payout. Early in the year, clubs are still getting into a rhythm, and Sassuolo enters this season looking to get Domenico Berardi and Giacomo Raspadori off to a fast start after last season’s top goal-scorer, Gianluca Scamacca, left the team over the summer. Berardi scored a goal on a penalty kick in the Neroverdi’s 3-2 Coppa Italia loss to Modena last Monday, while defender Kaan Ayhan scored the other on a late cross from Rogerio.

Scoring opportunities may be available for Sassuolo since Juventus enters the season without starting keeper Wojciech Szczesny, who will miss the game with a thigh injury suffered in a friendly against Atletico Madrid on August 7. However, Mattia Perin is a capable understudy. In 12 total starts last season, he had a 74.5 percent save percentage and four clean sheets. Juventus committed to making forward Dusan Vlahovic its top goal-scorer when it completed a transfer for him from Fiorentina and he finished the season with nine goals in 21 games across all competitions. While there is certainly scoring potential for both clubs, an early season result featuring more than three goals doesn’t appear to be in the cards.
