- Four candidates nominated by billionaire Mike Cannon-Brookes’ company Grok Ventures will join the AGL board.
- Grok Ventures nominated the candidates as part of an effort to accelerate the company’s transition to renewables.
- Mr Cannon-Brookes described the success as a “great day in the future of Australia’s decarbonisation”.
“The board welcomes these new directors to the board and will work constructively with them in the best interests of shareholders,” she said.
On Twitter, Mr Cannon-Brookes, co-founder of Australian company Atlassian, described the success as a “great day in the future of Australia’s decarbonisation”.
“This is a disappointing result given that all major proxy advisors recommended that shareholders vote in favour of the report and no material concerns were identified,” Ms McKenzie said, adding that the company would review its remuneration structure during the current financial year.
It assumes significance because a second strike at next year’s meeting would spark a vote to change the board.
