What you need to know about the Hawks

Atlanta made a surprising run toward the top of the Eastern Conference last year and the Hawks don’t appear to be slowing to start this season. They opened the season with an impressive 113-87 blowout of the Mavericks, and though the competition hasn’t been great since then, they’ve won two of their last three.

Trae Young is again the catalyst for Atlanta. He leads the team in scoring (26.5 ppg) and assists (9.3 apg). Small forward Cam Reddish has been a nice boost off the bench, averaging 15.3 points per game. Shooting guard Lou Williams is day-to-day with an ankle injury.

What you need to know about the Wizards

In addition to their 3-1 start, the Wizards are also 3-1 against the spread, only failing to stay within the spread as six-point underdogs against the Nets this past Monday. Washington revamped its roster over the offseason and some of the new acquisitions are playing a big part. Kyle Kuzma and Montrezl Harrell, who both came over in the Russell Westbrook trade with the Lakers, are averaging 13.8 and 17.8 points per game, respectively.

Spencer Dinwiddie, brought over in a sign-and-trade with Brooklyn, is leading the way with 19.8 points per game, edging out long-time Washington star Bradley Beal, who is averaging 19.7. Dinwiddie, however, is questionable for Thursday with a knee injury. Center Daniel Gafford (quad) is day-to-day.
