“Bad Girls Club” cast member Deshayla E. Harris was also killed in the Virginia Beach killings on Saturday.
Pharrell Williams is mourning the shooting death of his cousin Donovon Lynch, 25, who was one of two people killed in a series of shootings in Virginia Beach over the weekend. “The loss of these lives is a tragedy beyond measure. My cousin Donovon was killed during the shootings. It is critical my family and the other victims’ families get the transparency they deserve,” wrote Williams alongside a photo of Lynch.
“VA Beach is the epitome of hope and we will get through this,” added the producer/rapper, who is a native of the area. According to WAVY 10 in Virginia Beach, there were a series of shootings at the Oceanfront late on Friday, one of which was officer-involved. Police reportedly responded to a report of gunfire just before midnight, which is when an officer came into contact with Lynch.
In an update from Virginia Beach PD on Monday night, police said that Lynch was brandishing a handgun when police approached him and he was shot and killed shortly thereafter; a firearm was reportedly recovered at the scene and the officer involved in the shooting has been put on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
