Lil Nas X Blasts to No. 1 In Australia With ‘Montero’

Montero is Lil Nas X’s second appearance on the ARIA Albums Chart after his 7 EP, which hit No. 5 in July 2019.

Veteran Melbourne sibling act Vika and Linda Bull bag their third top tier debut in just 18 months as The Wait (Bloodlines/Universal) starts at No. 2.

Last year, the pair topped the ARIA Albums Chart with ‘Akilotoa (Anthology 1994-2006) and came in at No. 2 with Sunday (The Gospel According To Iso).

Canadian metal act Spiritbox makes a spirited appearance with Eternal Blue (BMG/ADA). It’s new at No. 8 for their first entry in the ARIA Top Ten, and it’s the best-seller on the weekly vinyl albums chart.

Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, “Stay” (Columbia/Sony) by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber enters an 11th consecutive week at the summit. “Stay” joins an elite club to log the same amount of time, including Bryan Adams’ “Everything I Do (I Do It For You)” (from 1991), Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” (1996/97), Drake’s “God’s Plan” (2018), The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” (2020) and 24kGoldn’s “Mood” (2020).

Finally, Taylor Swift collects another Top 40 with her re-recorded version of “Wildest Dreams”.

“Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” (Universal) bows at No. 28. The original, from the album 1989, peaked at No. 3 in September 2015.
