In December, Justin blasted trolls who kept comparing his wife to Gomez with a lengthy note about how it’s “extremely hard to choose the high road” when people are constantly trying to “bully” his wife. Hailey reposted her husband’s response at the time, adding she “needed to protect myself and my mental [sic].”
“My husband has helped me so much with it. Like, I really have to give him credit because he’s been doing this so much longer at this very massive level,” she shared. “I think I’ve gone through a phase where I’m like, ‘I get it. Yeah, I don’t want to hear it.’ And then I like do it, and he’s like, ‘I told you. … It’s way better, life is way better this way!’ And he was so entirely right.”
Hailey deleted her Twitter account because of its constantly “toxic environment” that gave her so much “anxiety” that the thought of opening up the app made her feel nauseous. But a helpful tactic she adopted to keep herself at peace was avoiding Instagram Monday through Friday and only checking it on the weekends.
While discussing her “very difficult” first year of marriage in her April 2021 Elle cover story, she said she indefinitely turned off public comments on her page about a year ago. The model, who’s followed by nearly 34 million people on Instagram, only allows the approximately 1,000 people she follows to comment on her posts because she knows they will only be “encouraging and uplifting.”
