MLB DFS: Top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy for May 7, 2021

Another jam-packed MLB DFS slate is on tap Friday, with all 30 teams filling the MLB DFS player pool. Red Sox left fielder J.D. Martinez is still on a tear, leading the majors with 10 home runs along with 31 RBIs and a .348 batting average heading into a road series at Baltimore. The Angels have twin hitting stars in Shohei Ohtani (10 home runs, 24 RBIs) and Mike Trout (.380, eight homers, 17 RBIs) heading into a weekend home series against the Dodgers.

Are Martinez, Ohtani or Trout primed for breakout performances on Friday and thus worthy to be a part of your MLB DFS strategy? And which other players around the league provide value on daily Fantasy sites like FanDuel and DraftKings? Before setting any MLB DFS lineups for Friday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Thursday, McClure recommended Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler in his pitcher rankings on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Wheeler delivered a complete-game shutout victory, striking out nine in the process to produce over 40 points on DraftKings and over 60 on FanDuel. Anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, with the 2021 MLB season rolling on Friday, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks. Head to SportsLine now to see them

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for May 7, 2021

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Friday is Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman at $5,600 on FanDuel and $3,500 on DraftKings. Freeman is hitting .202 this season with seven home runs and 18 RBIs. That includes walking and scoring a run against the Nationals on Thursday.

Freeman is practically salivating to see the Phillies start right-hander Zach Eflin on Friday, as he has hit all but one of his home runs and recorded all but three of his RBIs this season against righties. Freeman has also touched Eflin for two home runs, two doubles and five RBIs in 24 career at-bats. McClure knows this is a huge mismatch, and recommends Freeman in all MLB DFS formats.

Part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes rostering Twins outfielder Kyle Garlick at $2,600 on FanDuel and $2,000 on DraftKings. Garlick is hitting .270 with three RBIs so far this season. He doubled twice on Wednesday, just two days after returning off the COVID-19 list.

Garlick’s lack of power isn’t much of a surprise, as he has only hit three homers in 57 career games so far. But his five doubles in 15 games so far in 2021 means he can record points in plenty of ways. Now on his third team in three seasons, Garlick and the Twins are set to face Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal, who is 0-4 with a 6.14 ERA, so McClure sees lots of opportunity with a low price tag.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for May 7, 2021

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Friday. The stars are aligning for him to return tournament-winning value and he comes at a price that won’t break the bank. You can only see who it is here.
