MLB DFS: Top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy, advice for September 8, 2021

The Toronto Blue Jays have now won six straight games and nine out of their last 10 to pull themselves back into playoff contention. Of course, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been a big part of Toronto’s recent surge, but second baseman Marcus Semien has also been a catalyst of the team’s recent play. Semien has six home runs and 11 RBI over his last six games and has certainly rewarded those who slotted him into their MLB DFS lineups.

With the Blue Jays facing a rookie pitcher on Wednesday, Semien, Guerrero and a host of other Jays make for intriguing MLB DFS picks. Toronto leads the American League in home runs, so lots of balls could find the bleachers of Yankee Stadium today. So, which other Blue Jays or other players around the league should factor into your MLB DFS strategy? Before settling on any MLB DFS lineups, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Tuesday, McClure recommended Dodgers second baseman Trea Turner as one of his top MLB DFS picks. The result: Turner went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored, which returned 10 points on DraftKings and 12.2 points on FanDuel. Those that included him in their lineup were well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, with the 2021 MLB season rolling on, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Wednesday. Head to SportsLine now to see them

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for September 8, 2021

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Wednesday is Braves third baseman Austin Riley at $3,700 on FanDuel and $5,400 on DraftKings. Riley’s on a nice run as over his last five games, he’s reached base safely nine times, driven in seven runs and posted a 1.117 OPS.

Riley has had a breakout campaign this season and ranks in the top 10 in home runs (29), RBI (87) and batting average (.303). He’s hitting a blistering .350 since the All-Star Game and already has more homers since the Midsummer Classic than he had before, despite playing in 40 fewer games. The 24-year-old gets a nice matchup on Wednesday versus Sean Nolin (0-2, 5.71) of the Nationals. None of Nolin’s four starts have been quality and he’s allowed a .342 batting average to opponents.

Another key name in McClure’s MLB DFS strategy is rostering Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi ($2,600 on FanDuel, $3,500 on DraftKings). Benintendi gets a great matchup on Wednesday against Matt Harvey who sports a 6.28 ERA. That unsightly ERA is the worst in baseball among the 108 pitchers who have thrown at least 100 innings and Harvey’s 14 losses also lead the AL.

For the season, Benintendi has posted 12 home runs, 46 RBI and eight stolen bases in his first year in Kansas City. But he’s one of those players who swings better on the road than at home which is good news for Wednesday’s prospects. The Royals are playing at Baltimore and Benintendi’s OPS is 159 points higher when not in Kauffman Stadium. His favorable splits for both the pitcher and the location make Benintendi a must-start for MLB DFS lineups.
