MLB DFS: Top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy, advice for July 27, 2021

The venerable Miguel Cabrera isn’t what he once was, but the future Hall of Famer can still show flashes of brilliance at the plate. He hit a home run on Monday for his 1,100th career extra-base hit, becoming just the 21st player to reach the milestone. Also in that game, Cabrera’s teammate, Jonathan Schoop, extended his MLB-leading hit streak to 16 games as the Tigers lost in extra innings to the Twins. Detroit may not be much of a factor in the playoff race, but it still has a couple of solid options amongst Tuesday’s MLB DFS player pool.

What other streaking players besides Cabrera or Schoop are worth rostering in tonight’s MLB DFS lineups? And which pitchers around the league should factor into the day’s MLB DFS strategy? Before locking in any MLB DFS picks for Tuesday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Monday, McClure included Twins outfielder Brent Rooker as one of his core picks on FanDuel. The result: Rooker hit his third home run of the season to return 24.7 points on FanDuel. Anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for July 27, 2021

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Tuesday is Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson at $4,200 on DraftKings and $3,200 on FanDuel. The former MVP went 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored on Monday against the Tigers. It was Donaldson’s 16th home run of the year and he has a .253/.356/.487 split on the season.

Like most right-handed batters, Donaldson hits better against lefties than he does against other righties. That gives him a boost for Tuesday’s MLB DFS lineups as he will face southpaw Tyler Alexander. Donaldson’s OPS is 101 points higher against lefties than righties while Alexander equally struggles against hitters from the right side of the batter’s box. Alexander has allowed a .304 batting average against right-handed hitters compared to just .197 against lefties.

Part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes rostering Nationals shortstop Trea Turner ($6,000 on DraftKings, $4,300 on FanDuel). The speedster has three consecutive multi-hit games and is now hitting .320 on the season. Turner leads the NL in total bases (201) while ranking second in both hits (124) and stolen bases (21).

Turner has a dream matchup against Matt Moore on Tuesday as the veteran has been among the worst pitchers in baseball. Moore has started eight games yet has no quality starts, has no wins and has an ERA approaching 6.00. Turner is also knocking the cover off the ball against southpaws like Moore as he’s batting .400 against left-handed pitchers this season. All the stars are aligning for Turner to produce big numbers as one of Tuesday’s top MLB DFS picks.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for July 27, 2021

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Tuesday. The stars are aligning for him to return tournament-winning value and he comes at a price that won’t break the bank. You can only see who it is here.
