MLB DFS: Top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy, advice for August 20, 2021

Fourteen games are on the MLB DFS main slate on Friday, August 20, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET. Phillies vs. Padres is one of Friday’s marquee matchups, but MLB DFS players will need to take a deep look at all 14 games to find value up and down their rosters. Shohei Ohtani, Christian Yelich, Starling Marte and Fernando Tatis Jr. are among the most expensive MLB DFS picks, while Walker Buehler and Robbie Ray are among the highest priced pitchers entering Friday’s action.

With FanDuel hosting a $350K MLB Monster and DraftKings running a $400K Mega 8’s that awards $100K to the winner, there are some difficult decisions for MLB DFS players to make. Before finalizing your MLB DFS picks for Friday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Thursday, McClure included Reds pitcher Luis Castillo as one of his top pitching options on both FanDuel and DraftKings. The result: Castillo gave up just one earned run and one walk while striking out seven across seven innings. He returned 49 points on FanDuel and 26.35 points on DraftKings, so anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, with the 2021 MLB season rolling on, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Friday. Head to SportsLine now to see them

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for August 20, 2021

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Friday is Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette at $5,200 on DraftKings and $3,700 on FanDuel. Bichette is in the midst of a breakout campaign, as he’s now up to 20 home runs, 77 RBI and 90 runs scored this season.

Bichette has recorded at least one hit in four of his last six games, and he has a great chance to produce big numbers again on Friday night. Bichette and the Blue Jays square off against Tyler Alexander and the Tigers at home. Alexander has a 5.19 ERA in his last seven games and the Tigers have given up 35 runs in their last four contests. Bichette is a complete steal at this price point, so lock him in your MLB DFS lineups and look for a big return against Detroit.

Part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes rostering Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies at $5,800 on DraftKings and $4,400 on FanDuel. Albies has been on an absolute tear at the plate recently. In fact, Albies went 3-for-5 with a walk, two runs scored and three RBI in Atlanta’s 12-2 rout of the Marlins earlier this week.

Albies has recorded a hit in six of his last eight outings, and he has a great chance to produce big numbers again on Friday against Orioles starting pitcher Keegan Akin, who has an 8.13 ERA this season. Plus, the Braves have scored 11 or more runs in three of their last five outings. Lock him in as one of the top MLB DFS picks for Friday.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for August 20, 2021

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Friday. The stars are aligning for him to return tournament-winning value and he comes at a price that won’t break the bank. You can only see who it is here.
