MLB DFS: Top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy, advice for August 18, 2021

A dozen years ago, Zack Greinke starred for the Royals en route to winning the AL Cy Young award. Now, the current Astros pitcher will face his former team and look for just his second career win against the team that drafted him. With a 3.51 ERA and a potent Astros offense behind him, Greinke is one of the most intriguing options on the mound for Wednesday’s MLB DFS lineups.

Many of his teammates may very well factor into your MLB DFS strategy also as Astros hitters will face Brady Singer, who has allowed 12 runs over his last 5.2 innings pitched. Houston leads the AL in both runs scored and batting average, so the likes of Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa have to be salivating at this matchup. But they will be amongst the most expensive options in today’s MLB DFS player pool, so rostering them means you’ll have to find value elsewhere. So, before locking in any MLB DFS picks for Wednesday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Tuesday, McClure included Giants pitcher Logan Webb as one of his top picks. The result: Webb struck out eight over 7.1 innings, while allowing just two earned runs on the way to a victory. He returned 50 points on FanDuel and 27.7 points on DraftKings, so anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, with the 2021 MLB season rolling on, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Wednesday. Head to SportsLine now to see them

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for August 18, 2021

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Wednesday is White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson at $5,700 on DraftKings and $3,500 on FanDuel. Anderson went 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI on Tuesday versus the Athletics to extend his hitting streak to eight games. He has six extra base hits, eight RBI and a .718 slugging percentage during this streak.

Whether in Guaranteed Rate Field or in the cornfields of Iowa, Anderson has been a different hitter at home versus on the road. His OPS is 141 points higher at home than on the road which is great news as Wednesday’s contest is in Chicago. Anderson also has better numbers against lefty pitchers as the one he’ll see in Cole Irvin of Oakland. The All-Star shortstop has an .825 OPS against southpaws compared to a .768 against righties, so all signs are pointing towards Anderson having a huge game.

Part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes rostering Rays outfielder Austin Meadows ($4,700 on DraftKings, $3,200 on FanDuel). Meadows hit his second triple of the season on Tuesday, walked once and drove in two runs against the Orioles. That was just a continuation of his dominance of Baltimore as Meadows has a .273 average against the Orioles and a .229 average against everyone else.

For the season, Meadows has posted 21 home runs and 79 RBI, ranking sixth place in the AL in the latter. He leads the Rays in the statistic and is on pace to shatter his previous career-high of 89 RBI set back in 2019. Meadows, and the rest of Tampa, gets a great matchup on Wednesday against Spenser Watkins (2-4, 5.25) as the rookie is coming off his worst outing of the season as he allowed six runs in just four innings last Friday.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for August 18, 2021

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Wednesday. The stars are aligning for him to return tournament-winning value and he comes at a price that won’t break the bank. You can only see who it is here.
