MLB DFS 2021: Best DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy for April 2

The 2021 MLB season rolls on Friday with six games on the prime-time MLB DFS slate. Among the more popular MLB DFS picks to consider will be Angels outfielder Mike Trout, who leads his team against outfielder Adam Eaton and the host Chicago White Sox in Game 2 of a four-game series. Tampa Bay designated hitter Austin Meadows also leads the Rays against first baseman Jesus Aguilar and the host Miami Marlins at 7:10 p.m. ET.

Are Trout, Eaton, Meadows or Aguilar juicy selections out of Friday’s MLB DFS player pool? And what other MLB DFS matchups offer strong value in tournaments, 50-50s and cash games on DraftKings and FanDuel? Before locking in any MLB DFS lineups for Friday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

On Thursday’s Opening Day, McClure was high on Cody Bellinger among his FanDuel top stacks. The result: Bellinger went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored — good for over 18 points on FanDuel. Anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for April 2, 2021

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Friday is Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts for $6,200 on DraftKings and $4,800 on FanDuel. Betts went 2-for-6 with a double and a run scored on Opening Day against the Rockies. It was Betts 239th career double, ranking him 41st among active MLB players in that category.

Betts is coming off a truncated 2020 season that saw him hit .292 with 16 home runs, 39 RBIs and 47 runs scored. His 3.4 WAR was potent, though well below the average 5.8 WAR he delivered in six seasons with the Red Sox. Betts got the best of Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela for a 3-for-6 effort with a solo home run in his only previous meeting, making McClure love Betts’ value in all MLB DFS formats.

Another player McClure likes for Friday is Padres second baseman Jake Cronenworth at $3,400 on DraftKings and $2,600 on FanDuel. Cronenworth went 2-for-2 with a triple and three runs scored in Thursday’s season opener. Cronenworth also drew two walks to deliver 21 points on DraftKings.

Cronenworth’s rookie season in 2020 was a solid one, as he hit .285 with 15 doubles, four home runs, 20 RBIs and 26 runs scored. Cronenworth delivered 1.5 WAR to the Padres and tied him for second in the National League Rookie of the Year voting. He hit .316 against right-handers like Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly last season, an almost 100-point jump over lefties, making him a great MLB DFS value pick Friday.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for April 2, 2021
