William Grant & Sons has released a Chinese New Year-themed gift pack for the 21-year-old expression of its Glenfiddich single malt Scotch whisky brand.
The limited-edition packaging depicts the story of a stag’s homecoming and was designed by Chinese illustrator Rlon Wang. It is Wang’s second collaboration with William Grant after he designed last year’s Chinese New Year Glenfiddich gift packaging.
The Chinese New Year design is available with Glenfiddich Reserva Rum Cask 21-Year-Old, which is finished in Caribbean rum casks, and is on sale in the UK for GBP145 (US$200) per 70cl bottle.
Maria Ropero-Ortiz, senior brand manager for Glenfiddich UK, said: “We are proud to bring this limited edition to the UK market to celebrate Chinese New Year. We felt it’s only right to re-commission the innovative Chinese artist Rlon Wang to bring ‘The Great Homecoming’ to life.”
This year, Chinese New Year falls on 12 February. Most Scotch whisky distillers release limited-edition Chinese New Year bottles to help drive demand during what is a major selling occasion for the category. Last year, Diageo launched a Year of the Rat Johnnie Walker Blue.
