Moet Hennessey is releasing a limited-edition bottling from Islay single malt Ardbeg.
Arrrrrrrdbeg!, which commemorates the retirement last year of distillery manager Mickey Heads, is a no-age-statemented expression that has been aged in ex-rye casks – a first for Ardbeg. The whisky will be exclusively available to consumers who are members of Ardbeg’s online community from 1 February.
As part of the launch, consumers have been offered a downloadable pack of pirate props as well as a virtual tasting and Q&A video, available on the brand’s website.
In August, Colin Gordon, a former Diageo site operations manager for Port Ellen Maltings, succeeded Heads, who will stay on as head of the ‘Ardbeg Committee’ – a 20-year-old group with 100,000 members that spans 130 countries.
The latest bottling follows the September release of Ardbeg’s second batch in its Traigh Bhan line.
