How to watch Dune on HBO Max

After many months of delays, Denis Villenueve’s Dune is finally coming to American theaters and HBO Max viewers, with its stunning visuals, mid-century science fiction wonders, and and absolutely stacked cast. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, David Dastmalchian, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, and more.

And because of Warner Bros. Pictures’ approach to film releases during the COVID-19 pandemic, every one of the company’s blockbusters in 2021 is being released on the HBO Max streaming service simultaneously with their arrival in American theaters. Here’s where, when, and how to watch Dune from your own living room.

What is Dune’s release date?

Dune’s official release date in the US is Oct. 22, but that doesn’t mean theaters won’t have preview screenings on the evening of Oct. 21. You can replicate a smaller version of the theatrical experience from your own home with a subscription to HBO Max.

The epic sci-fi saga arrives to HBO Max for subscribers for free starting Oct. 21.

What time does Dune come out on HBO Max?

Dune will become playable on HBO Max at 6 p.m. EST/3 p.m. PST, Oct. 21.

How long is Dune?

You will need to reserve two hours and 35 minutes of your evening to watch Dune in one sitting, because Dune is two hours and 35 minutes long.

I have more questions about Dune

What’s up with sandworms? Why does Stellan Skarsgård look like that? What’s up with that box full of pain? Who are the Bene Gesserit? Is everyone in Dune pooping their pants all the time? (Yes.) The answers to those questions and more can be found in Polygon’s Dune guide. Enjoy.
